Dr. Maxim A. Suchkov is a columnist for Al-Monitor’s Russia-Mideast coverage, as well as an expert of the Valdai International Discussion Club and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), a Moscow-based think tank.

He is also an Associate Professor of Russian foreign policy at Pyatigorsk State University’s School of International Relations, an academic institution based in the North Caucasus.
