Turkish Policy Quarterly (www.turkishpolicy.com) and Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation (www.imaginedialogue.com) brought together a group of Armenians and Turks on 8 -14 June 2012 in Gudauri, a mountain resort in Georgia, with support from the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation - A program of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

After a call for applications process, 12 participants (six Turkish citizens of diverse backgrounds and six Armenians, including diaspora from a range of countries) were selected, in consideration of gender balance, age, and personal experiences relevant to various angles of Turkish-Armenian relations.



During the seven days spent in Gudauri, under the guidance of three professional facilitators (Armenian, Turkish and American), the participants engaged in intensive dialogue sessions in which they discussed the history and the present day relations between Turks and Armenians, developing a more multi-layered understanding of the formation of collective memory, the assumptions shaping bilateral communication, and the current challenges faced in the two nations' dialogue. Before and after each session, the group also engaged in indoor and outdoor team building activities aiming to facilitate the dialogue and foster mutual understanding ? including a hike to the top of a mountain in Gudauri The group "captured" scenes and perspectives throughout the dialogue program on film. Tentative plans were made for a joint hike to the summit of the symbolically significant Mount Ararat/Agri Dagi in the summer of 2013.
